Seniors must submit a degree application to the Office of the University Registrar, 222 Criser Hall, by the deadline for the semester during which they expect to graduate. Degree applications are only valid for one term. Students must satisfactorily complete the following requirements to graduate from the Warrington College of Business Administration:

  • Course Requirements: Students must complete all of the following college-specific requirements: general education, writing and math, CLAST, preprofessional, core, major (BSBA only) or area of specialization (BABA only) courses, required non-business electives (BSBA only), and required business electives (BABA only). Courses used to meet these college-specific requirements may not be taken S-U.
  • Credit Requirements: Students must earn a minimum of 120 semester hours as calculated by the college. Waiving any required course does not reduce the total hours required for graduation.
  • University of Florida Grade Point Average: an overall grade point average of 2.0 or higher is required in course work attempted at the University of Florida.
  • Business Core Requirement: BSBA and BABA students must have a business core GPA of at least 2.0 OR a grade of C or higher in all seven business core courses.
  • Major/Area of Specialization Requirement: BSBA students must have a major GPA of at least 2.0 OR a grade of C or higher in all course work required for the major. BABA students must have an area of specialization GPA of at least 2.0 OR a grade of C or higher in all course work required for the area of specialization.
  • Required non-business Electives: All BSBA majors (except CIS and Online General Business) are required to earn at least 12 credits from the following categories of courses offered by other UF colleges: 3000-4000 level courses or 1000-4000 level foreign language courses. BSBA students may utilize one Online BSBA Professional Development Course to fulfill part of this requirement. Other courses with sufficient academic rigor will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Required Business Electives (BABA only): BABA students are required to take at least 12 credits of 3000-4000 level business courses beyond the core. BABA Students may utilize one Online BSBA Professional Development Course to fulfill part of this requirement. All of these courses must be taken in residence at the University of Florida.

Combined and One-Year Graduate Degrees

The college offers students the option of graduating in five years with two degrees: bachelor’s and master’s. In combined-degree programs, students can earn 12 credit hours of graduate work as undergraduates that will count toward their undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Students should meet with the graduate coordinator of a department when seeking permission to take graduate courses as an undergraduate.

Students pursuing a BSBA or BABA degree can pursue a graduate degree in one year in the Warrington College of Business Administration. Graduate programs include the following: Master of Arts in International Business (MAIB), Master of Science in Decision and Information Sciences (MSDIS), and Master of Science in Finance (MSF).

The college also has an option for students who are not undergraduate business majors. The Master of Science in Management (MSM) is designed for students who are interested in an undergraduate major in another college but also want a comprehensive education in business.

Residency Requirements

All business core, major (BSBA), area of specialization (BABA), and BABA business elective courses must be taken in residence at the University of Florida or during an approved study abroad program. In addition, the last 30 hours to be applied toward a degree must be completed in residence in the college. This requirement may be waived only in special cases and must be approved in advance by the college’s Undergraduate Petitions Committee.

Students must have prior approval of the college's Undergraduate Petitions Committee to use correspondence courses to fulfill degree requirements. If approved, students may not take more than six (6) semester hours by correspondence during the final 60 semester hours required for the baccalaureate degree. Students who are on college probation may not take courses by extension or correspondence.

Graduating with Honors

Honors designations for graduation are based on three grade point averages: UF GPA, business core GPA, and major or area of specialization GPA. All three GPAs must meet the following minimum standards at the time of graduation in order for the honors designation to be awarded:

  • Cum Laude: 3.5 GPA (honors)
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.7 GPA (high honors)
  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.9 GPA (highest honors)

In addition to the GPA requirements, a thesis is required for the magna cum laude or summa cum laude designations. BSBA students are required to pursue the honors thesis through one of the academic departments in the Warrington College of Business Administration. BABA students are required to pursue the honors thesis through one of the academic departments in the Warrington College of Business Administration or the department of their area of specialization. A thesis requires enrollment in a specific section of an honors thesis course and must be reviewed by at least one faculty member chosen by the department’s honors coordinator. Students must have completed 90 semester hours of course work at the time they enroll in the thesis course. The completed thesis and an abstract must be submitted to the supervising faculty member and the Honors Office in Tigert Hall (www.honors.ufl.edu). Postbaccalaureate students are not eligible to receive honors recognition.
