Health Science – Pre-Professional
Health Professions Home | History & Overview | Policies/Procedures | Degree Requirements | Programs | Organizations
The pre-professional track is designed for students interested in health careers requiring strong basic science backgrounds, such as medicine and physician assistant. Therefore, both health science courses and additional basic science courses are listed in the semester-by-semester plan below. The additional science course work is intended to help students meet pre-professional course requirements but is not specifically required for the health science program. In order to be on track at the junior level, students must meet the health science critical tracking criteria (listed in bold) each semester of enrollment beginning with the first fall or spring term. Students must remain on track each subsequent fall and spring term for a total of four semesters in order to be considered for admission at the junior level. Students also must formally apply to the college for junior admission by submitting a college application packet (which can be found at the college’s Web site). Off-track students must speak with a college adviser before registering for the next semester.
To remain ‘on track’ for this major, a student must meet all critical tracking criteria. The critical tracking courses appear in bold.

Pre-professional students can select any major for their junior-senior course work. To follow is the course sequence for pre-professional students in health science.
For semesters 5-8, students must enroll in all semesters and take all core courses in the term/order indicated with the exception of statistics, which can be taken any time in the junior year. A minimum grade of C is required in all health science core courses, which are listed in bold. College electives also require a minimum grade of C.
