Critical tracking criteria must be completed by the end of the fourth semester at the university. Students who do not complete the appropriate number of courses each semester will have a hold placed on their records and will not be permitted to advance register until they meet with an academic adviser.
To remain ‘on track’ for this major, a student must meet the following critical tracking criteria The critical tracking courses appear in bold.
Semester 1:
- 2.0 UF GPA required for semesters 1-5
- Complete 1 of 12 critical courses with a 2.5 GPA in all critical courses – excluding labs CHM2045, CHM2045L, MAC2233 or MAC2311, BSC2010, BSC2010L, BSC2011, BSC2011L, ECO2023 or AEB3103, PHY2020, STA2023, CGS2531, 3 hours of Sociology or Psychology course work AEE 3030C or SPC 2600, FNR3131C and FNR4040C
Semester 2:
- Complete 2 additional courses of the 12 critical courses with a 2.5 GPA in all critical courses
Semester 3:
- Complete 1 additional course of the 12 critical courses with a 2.5 GPA in all critical courses
Semester 4:
- Complete 2 additional courses of the 12 critical courses with a 2.5 GPA in all critical courses
Semester 5:
- Complete all 12 critical courses with a 2.5 GPA in all critical courses

Following the freshman and sophomore years, NRC students develop an individualized program of study according to their area of interest. Alternatively, they can pursue defined programs in environmental education, ecotourism, wetlands ecosystems, landscape ecology, environmental pre-law, and computer information systems.

All NRC programs must contain the course requirements given below, a minimum of five additional FAS, FNR, FOR, or WIS courses, and other courses to fulfill program objectives and graduation requirements.
