B.A. in Theatre: Drama Education

The B.A. curriculum with an emphasis in drama education is for students who want to pursue careers teaching drama performance and production in secondary school, grades 6-12. In conjunction with the College of Education, this program prepares students for state certification in drama education.

Requirements include a minimum 960 SAT score or a 20 ACT score and an overall 2.50 GPA with a 2.50 in all junior and senior level CFA and College of Education course work.

Transfer students with A.A. degrees must complete additional courses in the basic distribution, which includes general education courses. Students must earn grades of C in these courses and they cannot be taken S-U.

The speech requirement is met with SPC2600, TPP 2110 and 3111. The reading requirement is met with RED 3312. The introductory education and technology courses are EDF 1005, EDG 2701 and EME 2040.

General Theatre - Drama Education

To remain 'on track' for this major you must meet the following critical tracking criteria. The critical tracking courses appear in bold.

Semester 1:

  • 2.5 UF GPA required for sem. 1-5
  • Complete 1 of 6 critical tracking courses THE2020, EDF1005, TPP2110, TPA2202C, TPA2074 or TPA2232C

Semester 2:

  • Complete 2 addtional tracking courses with a grade of "C" or better

Semester 3:

  • Complete 2 additional tracking courses with a grade of "C" or better

Semester 4:

  • Complete 1 additional tracking course with a grade of "C" or better
