Accredited: The Florida Department of Education (DOE) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE, 2010 Massachusetts Avenue NW, St. 500, Washington DC 20036-1023, 202-466-7496)

Programs: Unified Elementary/Special Education, Unified Early Childhood Education

Degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A.E.), Master of Education (M.Ed.)

Academic Advising: Advising for undergraduate admission, universal tracking, bachelor’s degree requirements and the university’s general education information is available in the Office of Student Services in room G416 of Norman Hall.

For scheduling or course registration information, please refer to the appropriate department listed in the Schedule of Courses.

Students who want to teach at the secondary level should contact the School of Teaching and Learning in room 2423 of Norman Hall or call 352-392-9191, Ext. 800.

College Scholarships: The College of Education awards scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students through an annual scholarship selection process. Eligibility for individual awards is determined by the College of Education based on a student's fall classification.

The Florida Department of Education also provides scholarships and loans for junior and senior education students.

Information about the Florida Minority Teacher Education Scholarship is available in the Office of Recruitment, Retention and Multicultural Affairs in room G415 of Norman Hall.

Higher Education Act (1998)

The Higher Education Act (U.S. Department of Education) addresses accountability requirements for teacher preparation programs. The act mandates that teacher preparation programs publish annually pertinent program information including but not limited to the following:

  • Program accreditation
  • Pass rates of graduates on state teacher certification assessments
  • Programs that have been designated as low performing by the state

In accordance with this act, information about the state- and NCATE-accredited teacher preparation programs at UF are available online, and in print upon request.
