2006-07 Undergraduate Catalog
Majors
The curriculum in art education is designed for students who plan to teach art in the public schools. This curriculum, which is offered in cooperation with the College of Education, prepares students to apply for certification for teaching art in Florida and all other NCATE states.
A portfolio review will be required of students before admission into junior-level studio courses.
Students need to pick an upper-division studio concentration, for example: ceramics, drawing, electronic intermedia, painting, printmaking, sculpture or creative photography - the prerequisite for the upper-division courses is two 2000-level studio courses in the area that students want to focus on in the upper division.
All graduates in music education are required to pass the Florida Teacher Certification Exam and complete a portfolio showing evidence of the Florida Accomplished Practices as prescribed by the Florida Department of Education.
