Natural Resource Conservation
Description of the Major
The natural resource conservation major provides a broad education in the ecological, economic and social aspects of forest and natural resources and their management. The individualized nature of the major allows students and their faculty advisers to create a curriculum specific to their interests.

Before Graduating You Must
  • Pass the forest resources and conservation competency exam, given in five parts. One part will be given in each of the following required courses:
    • FNR 3131C Dendrology of Forest Plants
    • FNR 3410C Natural Resource Sampling
    • FNR 4040C Natural Resource Communication
    • FNR 4623C Integrated Natural Resource Management
    • FNR 4660C Natural Resource Policy and Administration
  • Satisfy the Florida statutory requirements for CLAST.
  • Complete requirements for the baccalaureate degree, as determined by faculty.
Skills You Will Acquire in the Major (SLOs)
  1. Knowledge in and competency in biology/ecology, quantification, policy/administration, management of forest and related natural resources.
  2. Ability to analyze, interpret, synthesize and communicate information and data, including the use of mathematical and statistical methods.
  3. Create, interpret and analyze written text, oral messages and multimedia presentations.
