FIN 2106 Financial Planning.
Credits: 3.
Introduction to issues involved in long-term financial planning. Time value of money, tax considerations, insurance planning and management of investment portfolios. Students will not be allowed to register for FIN 2106 if they have already completed FIN 3403 or its equivalent.
FIN 3403 Business Finance.
Credits: 4; Prereq: ACG 2021C.
The acquisition and management of funds by business. A grade of C or better is required in FIN 3403 to register for required finance major courses.
FIN 4243 Debt and Money Markets.
Credits: 4; Prereq: FIN 3403 with a grade of "B" or higher and ACG 2021C and ACG 2071 or ACG 3481C with a grade of "C" or higher.
Financial markets; institutions and instruments associated with debt funds; the determinants of the general level and structure of interest rates.
FIN 4313 Financial Management of Financial Institutions.
Credits: 3; Prereq: FIN 4243 and FIN 4504.
A study of managerial finance in the setting of a financial institution. The unique problems of the several types of institutions as defined by regulation and practice.
FIN 4414 Financial Management.
Credits: 4; Prereq: FIN 4243 and FIN 4504.
An integrative examination of theory and practice of managerial finance; financing, and investing decisions as affected by risk, timing, and financial markets.
FIN 4504 Equity and Capital Markets.
Credits: 4; Prereq: FIN 3403 with a grade of "B" or higher and ACG 2021C and ACG 2071 or ACG 3481C with a grade of "C" or higher.
Financial markets; institutions and instruments associated with equity funds; the mechanics and mathematics of stock prices; security analysis and factors influencing stock values.
FIN 4533 Investments.
Credits: 3; Prereq: FIN 4243 and FIN 4504.
An analysis of the underlying theory of investments and its utilization by the individual investor or portfolio manager. Topics include capital market theory, portfolio theory and management, options contracts and interest rate futures.
FIN 4604 International Finance.
Credits: 3; Prereq: FIN 4243 and FIN 4504.
A study of financial problems encountered by firms operating in the international environment.
FIN 4905 Independent Research.
Credits: 1 to 3; Prereq: senior standing and previous work in the area selected for research. Admission is by the consent of the department. May be repeated with a change of content up to a maximum of 6 credits.
A written report or reports will be required.
FIN 4941 Internship in Finance.
Credits: 1 to 3 Prereq: Consent of department chairperson. May be repeated with change of content up to a maximum of 6 credits.
Applied work in finance. Requires several papers and reports. Will be counted as free-elective credit only.
FIN 4956 International Studies in Finance.
Credits: 1 to 4. May be repeated with a change of content up to a maximum of 12 credits. Admission to an approved study abroad program and permission of the department.
This course is designed to provide a mechanism by which formal course work taken at a foreign university as part of an approved study abroad program can be recorded on the transcript and counted toward graduation at the University of Florida.
FIN 4970 Honors Thesis.
Credits: 1; Prereq: 90 hours earned and 3.6 UF GPA.
A thesis is required for the awarding of the high or highest honors designation. To qualify for the thesis option, students will normally have completed 90 semester hours of course work (exceptions may be made by the honors coordinator of the student’s major department) and must have at least the grade point average (3.6) required for high honors at the time they enroll. The thesis will be reviewed by at least one faculty member chosen by the honors coordinator from the student’s major department.
REE 3043 Real Estate Analysis.
Credits: 4; Prereq: FIN 2106 or ACG 2021C or AEB 3133 or AEB 3144 or BCN 4753.
Principles of real estate decision making within the context of our economic, social, legal and political-governmental systems.
REE 4103 Real Estate Valuation. S.
Credits: 3; Coreq: REE 3043.
Approaches and methods of property valuation. Comparable sales analysis, cost-depreciation analysis and income capitalization are emphasized. A professional appraisal report is required.
REE 4905 Independent Research.
Credits: 1 to 3; Prereq: senior standing and previous work in the area selected for research. May be repeated with change of content.
Admission is by consent of instructor with approval of the department chairperson. A written report or reports will be required.
REE 4956 International Studies in Real Estate.

RMI 3011 Risk and Insurance.
Credits: 4.
Identification of various types of risk; principles underlying selection of appropriate means of handling risks, analysis of insurance as a principle means; organization and operation of insurance companies.
RMI 4305 Risk Management.
Credits: 4; Prereq: RMI 3011 or senior standing.
Topics include estimation of risk, determination of methods of handling risk, optimal levels of self insurance and deductibles, and estimation of necessary amounts of reserves, insurance contract pricing and analysis of insurance markets.
RMI 4905 Independent Research.
Credits: 1 to 3; Prereq: senior standing and previous work in the area selected for research. Admission is by the consent of the department. May be repeated with a change of content for up to a maximum of 9 hours.
A written report or reports will be required.
