Visual Art Studies

The B.A. curriculum is designed for students who seek a liberal arts education with an emphasis in the visual arts. There is less emphasis on studio and design studies than in the B.F.A. program, and the curriculum is aimed primarily toward experience and understanding rather than professional specialization or preparation for a career in art or design. A portfolio review will be required of students before admission to junior-level studio courses.

About This Major

Overview

Students need to be guided and encouraged to explore and to take advantage of opportunities to exhibit, write and discuss their ideas and to begin to develop a portfolio and resume. The student’s work is divided between carefully structured assignments and individually contracted projects.

To graduate with this major, students must complete all university, college and major requirements.
