Academic Learning Compact - French
The French major allows you to achieve communicative competence in all four language skills: speaking, comprehension, reading and writing. You will become knowledgeable in the areas of French culture, literature and/or linguistics, and you will learn how to interpret French-language texts according to their cultural, literary and/or linguistic content.

Before Graduating You Must
- Satisfactorily complete an assignment in a 4000-level course that includes (a) the written analysis of a text according to its cultural, literary and/or linguistic content (text analyzed and the analysis will be in French), (b) an oral presentation and discussion conducted in French.
- Satisfy the Florida statutes for the College-Level Academic Skills Requirement.
- Complete requirements for the baccalaureate degree, as determined by faculty.
Skills You Will Acquire in the Major (SLOs)
- Language competence in French; knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.
- Knowledge of cultural correlates, literary production and/or linguistic structure of French.
- Ability to interpret French-language texts according to their cultural, literary and/or linguistic content.
- Communicative competence in French.
