This major provides skills and training for employment in Florida's diverse environmental horticulture industry, including theme parks, plant production facilities and landscape management firms. Practical work experience in the form of internships is required in all specialization tracks of this major. International and study-abroad experiences are encouraged. An annual international horticultural tour is sponsored for the benefit of students in this major.

To graduate with this major, students must complete all university, college and major requirements.

Specialization: Public Garden Management

This specialization prepares students for careers working with people and plants. Florida boasts more than 150 public parks, botanical gardens and theme parks. Majors will be exposed to many disciplines including horticulture, landscape architecture, business, communications and behavioral sciences.

Specialization: Restoration Horticulture

This specialization prepares students to apply horticultural-based knowledge to the establishment, management and protection of plant communities. This background will allow students to be proficient in many aspects of applied plant science, including native/rare plant propagation, ex situ plant conservation, weed control, nursery production of native plants, and planting design and specification.
