ENT 4117 New Venture Planning
Credits: 4; ACG 2021C and ENT 3113 with a minimum of B grades.
A study of all the key elements of new venture planning to achieve an understanding of the process involved in the evaluation of new venture feasibility and the development of business plans for new venture.
FIN 2951 Special Projects
Credits: 1 to 3; can be repeated for a total of 6 credits.
Projects related to finance as approved by the college. (S-U)
FIN 3403 Business Finance
Credits: 4; Prereq: ACG 2021C and junior standing or ACG 2021C, ECO 2023 and sophomore standing.
The acquisition and management of funds by business. A grade of B or better is required in FIN 3403 to register for required finance major courses.
FIN 4243 Debt and Money Markets
Credits: 4; Prereq: a grade of B or higher in FIN 3403 and ECP 3703, and a grade of C or higher in ACG 2021C and ACG 2071 or ACG 3481.
Financial markets; institutions and instruments associated with debt funds; the determinants of the general level and structure of interest rates.
FIN 4403 Honors Finance
Credits: 2; can be repeated for a total of 6 credits; Prereq: a grade of A in FIN 3403.
Course of variable content providing an opportunity for the in-depth study of topics no offered.
FIN 4414 Financial Management
Credits: 4; Prereq: FIN 4243 and FIN 4504.
An integrative examination of theory and practice of managerial finance; financing, and investing decisions as affected by risk, timing and financial markets.
FIN 4504 Equity and Capital Markets
Credits: 4; Prereq: a grade of B or higher in FIN 3403 and ECP 3703, and a grade of C or higher in ACG 2021C and ACG 2071 or ACG 3481.
Financial markets; institutions and instruments associated with equity funds; the mechanics and mathematics of stock prices; security analysis and factors influencing stock values.
FIN 4905 Independent Research
Credits: 1 to 4; can be repeated with a change in content up to 6 credits. Prereq: senior standing and previous work in the area selected for research. Admission is by the permission of the department.
A written report or reports will be required.
FIN 4934 Special Topics
Credits: 1 to 4.
Course of variable content providing an opportunity for the study in depth of topics not offered in other courses.
FIN 4941 Internship in Finance
Credits: 1 to 3; can be repeated with change in content up to 6 credits. Prereq: consent of department chair.
Applied work in finance. Requires several papers and reports. Will be counted as free-elective credit only. (S-U)
FIN 4956 International Studies in Finance
Credits: 1 to 4; can be repeated with a change in content up to 12 credits. Admission to an approved study abroad program and permission of the department.
This course is designed to provide a mechanism by which formal course work taken at a foreign university as part of an approved study abroad program can be recorded on the transcript and counted toward graduation at the University of Florida.
FIN 4970 Honors Thesis
Credits: 1; Prereq: 90 hours earned and 3.6 UF GPA.
A thesis is required for the awarding of the magna cum laude or summa cum laude designation. To qualify for the thesis option, students will normally have completed 90 semester hours of course work (exceptions may be made by the honors coordinator of the student's major department) and must have at least the grade point average (3.6) required for high honors at the time they enroll. The thesis will be reviewed by at least one faculty member chosen by the honors coordinator from the student's major department. (S-U)
GEB 3113 Principles of Entrepreneurship (becomes ENT 3003 Summer 2010)
Credits: 4.
Practical, hands-on understanding of the stages of entrepreneurial process. Focus on the decision-making process within a start-up company
GEB 4110 New Venture Creation
Credits: 3.
Students are provided with the background and tools necessary to participate in the new venture creation process. Business plans will be developed.
REE 2951 Special Projects
Credits: 1 to 3; can be repeated for a total of 6 credits.
Projects related to business real estate as approved by the college. (S-U)
REE 3043 Real Estate Analysis
Credits: 4; Prereq: ACG 2021C or AEB 3133 or AEB 3144 or BCN 4753.
Principles of real estate decision making within the context of our economic, social, legal and political-governmental systems.
REE 4303 Real Estate Investment Decision Making
Credits: 4; Prereq: REE 3043 with a B grade of better.
Explores real estate investment and the demands, skills and challenges of decision-making for those who make such investments.
REE 4905 Independent Research
Credits: 1 to 4; can be repeated with change in content. Prereq: senior standing and previous work in the area selected for research. Admission requires instructor permission with approval of the department chair.
