2005-06 Undergraduate Catalog
Majors
Students who major in marketing develop the necessary skills and perspectives for successful marketing decision making by taking courses that provide a background of conceptual, quantitative and analytical problem solving skills.
To pursue this major, students need a grade of C or better in MAR 3023 in addition to the 3.0 tracking GPA requirement. This is not petitionable.
Marketing majors are encouraged to complete one of the following professional development experiences: an internship, a study abroad program, the University Scholars Program, McNair Scholars Achievement Program, extracurricular leadership experiences (e.g. philanthropic organizations, student organizations) or an honors thesis. Students should consult an academic adviser for specific information.
The tracking GPA is calculated based on all attempts of the tracking courses or their equivalents. Once a student receives a grade of C or higher in a tracking course or its equivalent, no subsequent grade in that course or its equivalent will be used in calculation of the tracking GPA.
Restricted electives: There is a minimum requirement of 11-12 hours of 3000/4000-level courses outside of business, accounting and foreign language at the 1000/2000 level. Students can utilize one professional development course (GEB 3035 Effective Career Management in Business or GEB 3213 Professional Writing in Business) to fulfill part of this requirement.
