Superior students can earn both the bachelor's and master's degree in a shorter time than typically would be possible. Undergraduate students who wish to enroll in graduate-level courses for a master's degree have an opportunity to do so through a combined-degree program.

Students who meet the combined-degree application requirements can enroll in 12 credits of graduate courses during their junior and senior years. These credits will satisfy the undergraduate degree requirements and, if the student is admitted to graduate school at UF, the 12 credits also will satisfy graduate degree requirements. The program's minimum admission requirement is a 3.2 GPA (may be higher for some programs). Admission to the corresponding graduate program requires an 1100 GRE score (may be higher for some programs).

Advantages of a Combined-degree Program

• Obtain an undergraduate and a graduate degree in much less time than two separate degrees.
• Cost of both degrees is reduced, since at least 12 credits apply toward both degrees.
• Time to decide whether to pursue further graduate or professional study.
• Enhanced job marketability; many professions now require a master's degree for entry-level positions.
• Continuity between undergraduate and graduate studies.
• Bright Futures Scholarship Program will fund graduate tuition at the undergraduate level - students are responsible for paying only the difference between undergraduate and graduate tuition.
• Florida PrePaid College Tuition Program will fund the first 120 credit hours, covering graduate courses taken toward the undergraduate degree at the undergraduate level. Financial aid may be available for the graduate degree portion of the program.

Special Programs

• The Master of Agribusiness (MAB) degree is for students who desire careers in marketing and management in agriculture, food processing/ distribution, forest products and related industry where there has been strong demand for MAB graduates. Offered by the Department of Food and Resource Economics (FRE), the MAB can be completed in three semesters (fall, spring and summer). A bachelor's degree in economics or business is not required.



• The Master of Science in Business Administration, Concentration in Management (MSM) is for non-business majors who wish to pursue an advanced degree in a professional field. Students have the opportunity, for example, to combine expertise in liberal arts and other academic disciplines with functional business applications to create a dynamic skill set that is in demand with employers.



• Master of Public Health (MPH). This degree offers diverse career opportunities, including identifying and tracking biohazards, keeping communities safe, investigating disease outbreaks, creating community health promotion programs and measuring the impact of health policy on access to care. Students from any undergraduate major can pursue this combined degree. Students begin work in the senior undergraduate year of, selecting one of five concentrations: biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology, health management and policy, or social and behavioral sciences.

Accelerated Programs

• The Junior Honors Medical Program offers a fast-track to medical school. Students apply to this highly-competitive program (12 spaces only) in the second semester of the second year of undergraduate study. If selected, they begin course work for medical school in the third year and enter the M.D. program in the fourth year. After completion of the first year of medical school, students earn their B.S. degree.



• College of Dentistry’s Early Admission Program. Incoming freshmen who intend to pursue a career in dentistry can, through a cooperative agreement between the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and the College of Dentistry, qualify for provisional admission to the preprofessional program leading to the D.M.D. This honors program helps highly motivated students complete a B.S. degree in either Food Science and Human Nutrition or Microbiology and Cell Science and the D.M.D. degree.
