Unified Elementary/Special Education (grades 1-6)

The unified elementary/special education ProTeach program includes professional methods courses, clinical experiences in classrooms and in the public school, an interdisciplinary concentration in liberal arts and sciences, and an area of specialization in education in addition to the professional education curriculum.  All graduates of the five-year program will be eligible for certification in elementary education.

The interdisciplinary concentration in Liberal Arts and Sciences includes 12 semester hours of course work representing science, mathematics, composition and social sciences.  A list of appropriate courses will be provided each semester.

The professional specialization is part of the graduate year. Through this specialization, students may add certification in special education. Other specialization areas include interdisciplinary studies, science/mathematics, literacy and technology.
