Music Education

The Bachelor of Music in music education curriculum (B.Mus.) prepares students to become musicians and music teachers in private life and in the public schools. It is offered in cooperation with the College of Education  and includes work in music history, literature, theory, performance, conducting, ensemble and music education.

More than one-half of the students in the School of Music are preparing for careers as music teachers in elementary or secondary schools. In addition, under-graduates interested primarily in performance careers often take advantage of the teacher-preparation cur-riculum, which fulfills the educational requirements for Florida teaching certification in grades K-12, and in most other states.
