Art Studies (Visual)

The B.A. curriculum is designed for students who seek a liberal arts education with an emphasis in the visual arts. There is less emphasis on studio and design studies than in the B.F.A. program, and the curriculum is aimed primarily toward experience and understand-ing rather than professional specialization or prepara-tion for a career in art or design. Students may enter the program up to the junior year.

Critical tracking criteria appears in bold. These courses must be completed in the term specified to remain on-track.

Elective Requirement: An elective is any course taken outside of the School of Art and Art History. Unless an approved minor is included, at least 18 hours of elec-tives must be chosen from
3-4000 level courses.

Students must take 10 hours of foreign language or show a minimum proficiency in a single foreign lan-guage by taking a placement test. If the proficiency is met, it does not reduce the number of credits required for the degree. Foreign language may be taken S-U or for a letter grade, and the minimum grade is C. Foreign language credit may not be obtained through CLEP examinations.

All students pursuing this B.A. must receive ad-viser approval before attempting the elective portion of this program.
