Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance

Students proceed through technique and studio courses according to proficiency. Placement is determined by audition.

Dance

To remain ‘on track’ for this major, a student must meet the following critical-tracking criteria. The critical-tracking courses appear in bold.

Semester 1:

  • 2.0 UF GPA required for semesters 1-5
  • Complete 8 hours of critical-tracking courses DAA 2381, DAN 2100, DAA 2610, DAA 2611, DAN 4180, TPA 2232C or four hours of any DAA course with a grade of C or better

Semester 2:

  • Complete 5 additional hours of tracking courses with a grade of C or better

Semester 3:

  • Complete 2 additional hours of tracking courses with a grade of C or better

Semester 4:

  • Complete 2 additional hours of tracking courses with a grade of C or better
  • Complete successful audition

Semester5:

  • Complete 1 additional hour of tracking courses with a grade of C or better

* Specific courses approved by the dance adviser and appropriate to the student’s technical level. At least two semesters each of intermediate and advanced modern dance and one semester each of intermediate and advanced jazz and ballet are required.

** Approved electives are chosen with the dance adviser’s approval; the choice may provide an emphasis in theatre, performance/choreography, world dance or dance in medicine. Electives cannot fulfill General Education requirements.
