The Center for Gerontological Studies, which has more than 360 associated faculty from 46 departments, promotes interdisciplinary teaching, research and practice in the field of aging.

A major is available through interdisciplinary studies and a minor is also available. Course offerings are substantial. The required core course (GEY 2010) is offered at least twice a year.

Many other departments also offer courses approved for the IDS major or for the minor.

The Minor: The center offers a minor for qualified undergraduate students who plan careers in the field of aging, whether or not they will pursue graduate studies in gerontology. Students take the core course and 12 additional hours or approved courses.

Courses: With instructor permission, seniors may take certain graduate courses.
